Imagine the impact we could have in our community if when people spoke of not only River Valley, but Christians in general, they said stuff like: "Oh, now there's a group of people with integrity and moral courage;" or "They are so compassionate to others, especially those who are in need and less fortunate;" or "You can sure count on them to shoot straight with you;" or "They really care about people no matter what their background;" or most importantly, "They really believe this stuff." |
We're not here to win arguments or elections or to build our own following, but to bring freedom, healing, and release in the name of Jesus to any and every person we rub shoulders with. This is who River Valley is called to be. And if this is who we are called to be, we must be very intentional about the story we're living everyday. We can't just go on auto-pilot or blend in or choose the path of least resistance. Our mission is to impact the world as we follow Jesus together. And if we are going to make any headway in this mission, we must march to the beat of a different drummer than the world that surrounds us. We must see ourselves, first and foremost, as God sees us: A Peculiar People |
